Phu Quoc National Park

The forest that covers the north of the island

Phu Quoc National Park was established in 2001 and protects the forested hills that cover much of the north and centre of the island — more than half of Phu Quoc’s land area. It is part of the Kien Giang Biosphere Reserve recognised by UNESCO. The forest ranges from lowland and hill evergreen forest to coastal and mangrove habitats, and it is home to birds, monkeys and many smaller animals.

There is no single park entrance or visitor circuit; most visitors experience the park from the roads that cross it, on a jeep tour, or on a walk up one of its streams. The best known is Suoi Tranh, a forest stream with small cascades not far from Duong Dong. Streams flow strongly in and after the rainy season and can dry to a trickle by the end of the dry season.
